Q-MASS is a CNC precision engineering company specialising in high-accuracy machined components. We are looking for a reliable and technically competent Tool Setter / Tool Maker to support our CNC machining team by preparing tooling, organising stores, and ensuring efficient workflow throughout the workshop. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, good tooling knowledge, and the ability to manage stock in a dynamic engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and preset cutting tools, holders, collets, and fixtures for CNC milling and turning operations.
- Set tooling to exact measurements using presetting equipment, height gauges, and inspection tools.
- Assemble tool kits for scheduled jobs to ensure minimal machine downtime.
- Work closely with CNC machinists to support machine setup, tool changes, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor tool wear, report issues, and assist with tool life management.
- Ensure tooling meets job requirements and is prepared according to engineering drawings and setup sheets.
- Maintain an organised and efficient tooling and consumables store.
- Track stock levels of inserts, cutters, holders, raw materials, and workshop consumables.
- Carry out controlled re-ordering through MRP/ERP systems or purchasing processes.
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming deliveries and ensure accurate labelling and storage.
- Issue tooling and consumables to machinists and record usage accurately.
- Conduct regular stock checks and support inventory audits.
- Assist with general workshop tasks where required.
- Adhere to all company health & safety and quality procedures.
