The Role:
To operate the process and packing machinery at the Agecroft site. This is a fast paced and high-volume production facility. To ensure the sites Safety, Quality, Delivery, Moral and Cost targets are achieved the Production Operator. The responsibility of the Production Operator is to ensure the smooth running of the equipment and the achievement of the hourly planned production targets. This role will be accountable for delivering the production volume on time, to the correct quality and at the correct cost targets.

- Reports to the duty Team Leader
- Work within a shift production team with support from the service team and shift engineering team
- Close liaison with planning to ensure effective scheduling and delivery of materials
- Close liaison with warehouse manager
- Close liaison with Quality/Technical Services
- Close liaison with CI Manager
Job context & scope:
Safety
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Operate machinery and equipment safely, following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near-misses to the supervisor immediately. Ensure your work area is in a safe condition and issues are escalated
- Participate in safety training sessions and drills
- Support the Team Leader to drive a proactive safety culture i.e. Hazard Spots reported, actioned and completed
- Completes allocated actions resulting from internal and external H&S Audits to ensure all external accreditations are maintained
- Maintains and raises hygiene standards to GMP requirements
Quality
- Delivering the Gold Seal standard for the product every time
- Monitor the production process to ensure products meet quality standards and specifications
- Conduct regular quality checks and inspections of finished products to ensure the standard is maintained
- Identify and report any quality issues or defects to the team leader or technical services team
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the production area to prevent contamination. Ensure all GMP standards are delivered in the area
- Ownership of maintaining required standards, as assessed via internal and external audits. This includes internal GMP audits and the external ISO accreditation
- Delivery the clean, inspect and lubricate tasks during weekly line interventions
Delivery
- Ensure timely production and delivery of all products according to the production schedule
- Coordinate with team members to meet daily production targets and deadlines
- Deliver the set-up and changeover of production lines to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate downtime records to ensure that reoccurring issues can be identified and eliminated. Escalate issues to shift engineering team or team leaders when they cannot be resolved on the line
- Works with the team to meet daily and weekly production KPIs including OEE, PA, GMP audits, safety inspections etc, and review quarterly
- Understanding and use of the SAP system and all relevant transactions
- Completion of SAP transactions to desired standard
- Ensure critical set points are delivered on start-up and variances to standard are captured or escalated
- Support the continuous improvement initiatives at the site and apply the relevant problem solving tool to issues that arise on the production line (fishbone diagram, 5 – why, 4M, process mapping, etc)
Morale
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Support and mentor new team members to ensure smooth onboarding and integration
- Actively participate in site Engagement surveys and support the delivery of any changes from the survey
- Deliver effective handovers to following shift to ensure the smooth running of the production line
Cost
- Operate machinery and equipment efficiently to minimize waste and reduce production costs
- Monitor and manage the use of raw materials and packaging to prevent overuse and wastage
- Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and process improvements
- Assist in inventory management for packaging materials and support the investigations into variances
