About the Role:
We’re recruiting for an experienced Specification Manager to lead engagement and early-stage design influence within the UK residential construction sector – particularly among housebuilders, architects, engineers, and offsite manufacturers. This is a strategic and commercially focused role best suited to someone with a strong understanding of housebuilding, structural systems, and specification-driven sales. You will act as the bridge between commercial, technical, and product development teams – identifying opportunities, building stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the right solutions are embedded early in design.
With a focus on structural connectors and offsite solutions, you’ll be at the forefront of market insight and product innovation. This is a fantastic opportunity for a specification, technical sales, or commercial professional with strong sector knowledge and a passion for value-led design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage long-term relationships with housebuilders, architects, engineers, and offsite partners
- Identify and influence early-stage design decisions to embed products and systems into specification
- Uncover commercial opportunities through frameworks, preferred supplier agreements, and technical partnerships
- Act as a trusted advisor on innovation, buildability, and technical challenges across floors, roofs, and walls
- Gather customer-back insights to inform product development and strategic direction
- Lead structured discovery work to understand user behaviours, pain points, and market gaps
- Collaborate with product managers to assess, prioritise, and screen new ideas
- Deliver market intelligence and competitor analysis to support growth plans
- Represent the business at industry roundtables, forums, and research sessions
Candidate Profile:
- Strong understanding of the residential construction sector – housebuilding, specification, and structural systems
- Proven experience influencing specifiers and managing design-stage engagements
- Excellent communicator with confidence working across stakeholder levels
- Analytical mindset – able to gather insights, conduct discovery, and translate findings into commercial action
- Comfortable working remotely and managing a national travel schedule (2–3 days per week)
- Curious, proactive, and highly collaborative
- Background in technical sales, design coordination, product management, or a related field
- HNC or equivalent in Structural, Civil, or Building Engineering (desirable but not essential)
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to inclusive hiring. If you’ve got the experience and the mindset, we’d love to hear from you.
