About the Role:
We are supporting a long-established distributor of building products and materials in their search for a field-based Business Development Manager to cover the Swansea region.
You will be focused on driving sales growth by developing existing customer relationships, acquiring new business, and identifying new revenue opportunities. You will be expected to achieve and exceed quarterly Gross Profit (GP) & Revenue targets, while contributing to the wider strategic goals of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Account Growth: Manage and grow an existing portfolio of accounts through regular engagement, upselling, and cross-selling.
- New Business Development: Proactively identify and win new business opportunities across trade, commercial, and retail sectors.
- Lead Generation: Research and target prospective clients using various sales tools, networking, and industry events.
- Sales Targets: Consistently meet or exceed quarterly GP & Revenue targets and sales KPIs.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build long-term relationships with customers by providing outstanding service and tailored solutions.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and develop mutually beneficial relationships with our key suppliers, including joint visits and activity to generate and win business.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify and act on emerging opportunities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., branch managers, marketing, logistics) to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline status, and forecast data using CRM systems and reporting tools.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in B2B sales or business development, ideally in the building materials, plastics, windows and doors or construction sector.
- Strong track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to identify new opportunities and convert leads into long-term business.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of gross profit metrics.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized.
- Proficient in using CRM systems, MS Office, and sales reporting tools.
- Full UK driving licence.
