About the Role: We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established supplier within the construction materials sector who are looking to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Manager to support the growth of their roofing systems across the UK market. This is a field-based role focused on developing new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with roofing contractors, distributors, and specification partners. You’ll play a key role in driving market share within both residential and commercial construction projects by influencing specification, supporting contractors, and ensuring projects convert through the supply chain. The role would suit someone with experience selling flat roofing or building envelope solutions who enjoys a balance of technical sales, relationship management, and proactive business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development & Sales Growth
- Identify and secure new business opportunities with roofing contractors, main contractors, architects, and distribution partners
- Promote and sell roofing systems and associated product solutions
- Develop and implement a structured territory sales plan to achieve revenue and growth targets
- Track and manage project pipelines from early specification through to order placement
- Account Management
- Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with contractors, installers, and distribution partners
- Provide both commercial and technical support to customers across your territory
- Conduct regular client visits, site meetings, and project discussions
- Specification & Technical Sales
- Engage with architects, consultants, and specifiers to secure product specification on projects
- Deliver CPD presentations, product demonstrations, and technical guidance
- Support contractors with installation best practice and system recommendations
- Monitor competitor activity and market developments within the flat roofing sector
- Identify emerging project opportunities across residential and commercial markets
- Provide market feedback and insights to support wider commercial strategy
- Work closely with internal technical, estimating, and marketing teams
- Support contractor training and product awareness initiatives
Candidate Profile:
- Experience in construction materials sales, ideally within roofing or building envelope systems
- Knowledge of flat roofing membranes or similar roofing technologies
- Experience working with contractors, installers, and distribution networks
- Ability to understand construction drawings and project specifications
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Commercially minded with a proactive, results-driven approach
- Comfortable working in a field-based role with regular travel
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with flat roofing systems or similar building products would be advantageous.
