Pyroguard is expanding its self‑delivered transport operation and is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Production Operative, with the opportunity to undertake a Level 2 LGV C+E (HGV Class 1) Driver Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will be employed as a Production Operative throughout the apprenticeship programme and will undertake HGV training alongside their operational duties. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and qualification, there will be the opportunity to progress into an HGV Driver role.

About the Apprenticeship

The apprenticeship programme will run for approximately 12–13 months and provides comprehensive training through our training partner, time2train. The programme includes:

  • Classroom-based learning
  • Hazard perception and driver safety training
  • Practical driving instruction
  • LGV C+E licence acquisition
  • Specialist glass delivery training
  • Experience supporting safe and professional deliveries across the UK

Your Tasks

Machine Operation & Production

  • Operate machinery involved in glass processing and/or coating
  • Assist with the setup, operation and monitoring of production lines
  • Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment

Handling & Logistics

  • Manually handle heavy, palletised goods, including glass panels
  • Load, unload and transport materials using a forklift truck or overhead crane (where authorised and trained)
  • Prepare finished products for storage and dispatch

Quality Control & Safety

  • Conduct visual inspections to ensure products meet quality standards
  • Report defects, faults or production issues promptly
  • Adhere to all health, safety and environmental procedures and regulations

Your Profile

To be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must:

  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Be able to pass a driver‑specific medical assessment (required by the DVLA for licence issue)
  • Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and handling heavy materials
  • Be committed to completing both the apprenticeship and Production Operative responsibilities
