The SHEQ Engineer is a quality‑focused role with responsibility for maintaining and improving the local Quality Management System, driving audits, compliance and continuous improvement across the business. The role also requires Health & Safety, supporting the monitoring of safe working practices, site audits and safety inspections to help ensure a compliant and safe employee work environment. In addition, the role manages quality concerns with customers, supporting Sales, and with suppliers, supporting Operations, while contributing to the Group’s ESG strategy.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Your Tasks

  • Managing all QMS activities within the business, including audits, and coordinating the completion of follow‑up actions through relevant people and departments
  • Auditing and maintaining Factory Process Control (FPC) and QMS documents
  • Monitoring compliance with customer requirements, with responsibility for customer complaints management
  • Ensuring compliance with the quality policy, company standards, regulatory and external standards, including ISO9001, ISO14001, CE Marking and related registrations
  • Supporting the Manufacturing Engineer and Operations to ensure production is in line with product and process specifications, including determining whether glass is compliant with customer requirements
  • Supporting the Manufacturing Engineer and Operations in internal non‑conformity root cause analysis, CAPAs and continuous improvement activities where appropriate
  • Developing KPI structures and all data recording
  • Supporting adoption of and certification to new regulatory or external standards
  • Supporting Operations to develop best practices
  • Supporting measures to improve inspection methods, equipment and tool performance, product quality, efficiency and morale
  • Monitoring all areas of the business to ensure they adhere to company Health and Safety procedures, carrying out a programme of site audits and safety inspections and managing completion of subsequent actions through relevant people and departments
  • Delivering Health and Safety workshops to employees
  • Supporting Operations Managers in accident and incident management, including investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and liaising with clients and/or external authorities as necessary
  • Supporting Operations Managers at regular Health and Safety meetings with safety representatives and senior management
  • Following and establishing compliant procedures in keeping with current legal requirements

Your Profile

  • Strong quality focus with hands‑on experience of Quality Management Systems, audits and continuous improvement
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • ISO9001, ISO14001, CE and UKCA standards
  • Health & Safety exposure, ideally supported by NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent safety training / qualifications
  • Good numerical skills and an understanding of statistics
  • Planning and organisation skills

  • Independence

A technical education, preferably with at least an HND or equivalent in a Health & Safety, Quality, Science or Engineering discipline is required. Several years’ experience in a SHEQ role coupled with a strong track record in a manufacturing environment are highly preferable. A background containing experience of glass manufacturing would be advantageous.
