About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Manager to join our team in Andover. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a fleet of 22–26 vehicles, ensuring legal compliance, operational efficiency, and high standards of customer service. This role is critical to the smooth running of our logistics operation and requires a confident leader with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the daily transport operations, ensuring all deliveries and collections are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Lead, supervise, and support a team of drivers, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Ensure full compliance with transport legislation including Driver Hours, Working Time Directive, and Operator Licence regulations.
  • Plan and optimise vehicle routes to maximise efficiency and control operational costs.
  • Monitor and maintain vehicle maintenance schedules, ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy and compliant.
  • Handle any transport-related issues or incidents, providing swift and effective resolutions.
  • Monitor driver performance, manage training needs, and conduct investigations or disciplinary actions as required.
  • Maintain accurate records for vehicles, drivers, tachographs, and fuel usage.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to meet service level agreements and customer expectations.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar Transport Manager role.
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) – essential.
  • Strong understanding of transport legislation, compliance, and fleet management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Experience using transport management and vehicle tracking systems.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing a fleet of 20+ vehicles.
  • Previous work within relevant industry – e.g., general haulage, food logistics, construction, etc.
  • Familiarity with health & safety and accident investigation procedures.
