Refrigeration Engineer

Commercial Refrigeration Engineer – Sussex and Kent Location (Field-based / Sussex, Kent & Surrey – with travel to customer sites) NO LONDON WORK. Salary £38,000 – £45,000 per annum Overtime, on-call allowance, company vehicle, private health care, and benefits Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Engineer to install, service, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration systems across a range of customer sites. The successful candidate will ensure equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with UK regulations. Key Responsibilities • Install, service, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration systems • Work on equipment such as: Cold rooms & freezers * Blast Freezers o Display cases & cabinets o Walk-in chillers/freezers • Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) • Respond to emergency breakdown call-outs • Complete service reports and documentation accurately • Ensure compliance with F-Gas regulations, health & safety standards, and company procedures • Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, and office staff • Maintain company tools, vehicle, and equipment Essential Requirements • Proven experience as a Commercial Refrigeration Engineer • F-Gas Category 1 (or equivalent) • Relevant NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills • Full UK driving licence • Willingness to participate in on-call rota • Good communication and customer service skills Desirable Skills & Experience • Experience working on transport refrigeration • Knowledge of CO₂, Hydrocarbon, or Ammonia systems • City & Guilds 2079 or equivalent • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems • IPAF / PASMA / CSCS (or willingness to obtain) Benefits • Competitive salary with overtime and on-call payments • Company van, fuel card, tools, and PPE • Private Health Care • 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) • Training and development opportunities • Clear career progression Working Hours Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (Door to Door) On-call rota (typically 1 week in 4)
