The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join the Company. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will ensure that the department is managed in order to meet the strategic objectives and legal requirements across the business and drive continual improvement across the integrated HSE management systems, whilst introducing world class Environmental and Health and Safety practices. The post holder will enjoy a high degree of autonomy in this role and will be expected to develop and enhance the current operations team and using your experience strive to deliver exceptional HSE standards across the site.

Our extensive facilities include powder coating, wet spray, EPD, shot blasting and pre-treatments as well as an experienced technical department. Role & Responsibilities:
- Review and develop all HSE policies and procedures to continually improve the HSE system.
- Influence and collaborate with frontline management and relevant stakeholders and advise on HSE matters.
- Review training needs and deliver internal training/toolbox talks where appropriate, in collaboration with either external training providers or internal departments.
- Conduct risk assessments and COSHH risk assessments.
- Ensure all statutory inspections are completed, engaging with external contractors where necessary to carry out risk assessments and surveys e.g. LOLER, LEV, DSEAR, Fire, Legionella. Review reports and drive the close out of actions from the reports.
- Lead HSE internal audits and tours and document findings.
- Share best practice and promote continuous improvement across the business.
- Carry out accident/incident investigations and report to the senior management team in a timely manner, ensuring that preventative actions are identified and executed.
- Develop and maintain the company’s environmental management systems (EMS) to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Review contractor RAMS and manage contractors in conjunction with the maintenance department.
- Complete and submit RIDDOR reports where necessary and be the point of contact for regulatory bodies where necessary (HSE, EA).
- Develop and coordinate emergency preparedness plans.
- Maintain accurate records of accidents, incidents, audits, inspection etc and track and report on KPI’s.
- Promote a positive safety culture within all levels of the organisation.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in H&S management in a manufacturing background.
- Self-starter with excellent people management skills and the ability to look ahead.
- Ability to function across multiple disciplines.
- Must have a working knowledge of ISO14001/45001, ideally holding an internal auditor or lead auditor qualification.
- Company and people focused with the ability to be firm but fair.
- Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organisation, planning and time management skills.
Hours: 36 hours per week Monday – Thursday 07:30-17:00 (4 day working week)
Salary: up to £42,000 per annum
