Hours: 7am – 5pm Monday to Friday and 1 in 2 Saturday mornings depending on business needs.
Our client is one of the industry leading UK-based accident repair groups, with 38 established accident repair centres across the UK. They are looking for a Bodyshop Workshop Controller to join their Accident Repair Centre in York. The Bodyshop Workshop Controller plays a pivotal role in supporting the Bodyshop Manager and ensuring that their Bodyshops are running efficiently. They are looking for a Bodyshop Workshop Controller / Production Manager who has proven experience working in a Bodyshop with passion, productivity and discipline to ensure success for the team.
The role will include, but is not limited to the following tasks:
- Support the daily operations of the Bodyshop to ensure smooth running and the achievement of performance and quality targets.
- Step in to manage operations in the Bodyshop Manager's absence.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the repair team on vehicle body repair techniques, including panel repair, refinishing, welding, alignments, and structural repairs.
- Conduct thorough checks to ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and customer expectations, maintaining high-quality standards throughout.
- Assist with ordering parts, reviewing job packs, and performing other administrative duties to ensure efficient workshop operations.
- Mentor and guide team members to improve their skills, increase efficiency, and promote collaboration within the team.
- Track progress, manage workloads effectively, and ensure timely completion of repairs to meet customer deadlines.
- Coordinate stock levels, ensure timely ordering of materials, and maintain tools and equipment in optimal condition.
- Uphold company health and safety policies, maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment for the team.
What are we looking for?
- A strong technical background in vehicle body repair, with hands-on experience in Bodyshop operations.
- Strong technical knowledge on structural and mechanical repairs.
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a Bodyshop or automotive environment.
- Exceptional multitasking and time-management abilities to handle diverse responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.
- A keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to quality.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with both customers and internal stakeholders professionally.
- A thorough understanding of workplace safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- A full, valid UK driving license is essential.
