The Role
As a Night Fitter / HGV Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and availability of a busy fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs). Working a dedicated night shift, you’ll be responsible for both planned maintenance and reactive repairs, ensuring vehicles are fully operational and ready for use each day.
This is a hands-on, autonomous role where you’ll be trusted to manage your workload effectively with minimal supervision. Reporting to the Night Shift Foreman, you will contribute to the smooth running of the workshop while maintaining high standards at all times.
The role covers a broad range of responsibilities including preventative maintenance, safety inspections, fault diagnosis, and mechanical and electrical repairs across a variety of HGV vehicles. From routine servicing and brake work through to more complex diagnostics, no two shifts will be the same.
You will play a key role in identifying potential issues early, reducing vehicle downtime and preventing costly breakdowns. Attention to detail is essential, as all work must meet strict DVSA, safety, and compliance standards, supported by accurate documentation and job records.
