We’re thrilled to have been awarded a 10-year Operations & Maintenance contract by WELP at the world’s first commercial scale plastic recycling plant and are now looking to form our amazing site team. Based in Teesside, you’ll be key in delivering excellence in safe, efficient operations and maintenance using HydroPRS™ technology to chemically recycle end‑of‑life plastic. Joining us as we commission and start up, your experience and contributions will see us achieve recycling of over 20,000 tonnes of waste plastic each year, with the scope for expansion as we grow.
The Opportunity: We are now recruiting for a C&I Technician. You’ll support the E&M Manager by performing programmed maintenance work, defect rectification and troubleshooting, emergent and project work relating to site instrumentation equipment. You’ll be supported with personalised on‑the‑job training, coaching, mentoring and twice‑yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager in driving philosophy, strategy, actions, reporting, results & compliance during all running states.
- Support in ensuring all E&M processes, systems, reporting mechanisms and contracts are in place for identifying & managing engineering risk, meeting the above requirements.
- Use the framework of disciplined maintenance as best practice.
- Ensure effective communication, understanding and monitoring by all department employees & personnel required to complete E&M tasks.
- Produce risk assessments and method statements that detail the safest method to carry out work.
- Understand current and key legislation (HASAWA, EAWR, DSEAR) and work to ensure full compliance.
- Provide appropriate guidance and support for all major site engineering and maintenance events including outage and plant shut down, unplanned and planned events and incidents.
- Support leadership regarding investigations, processes, audits, procedural actions and communications.
- Support the E&M Department and other assigned personnel, ensuring they meet required standards in a safe, timely manner.
- Responsibility for supervision, development, welfare and engineering capability & competency in discipline areas & their ability to address technical requirements & standard implementation.
- Ensuring that competent discipline experts are available to address the technical requirements of the Operating Site.
- Champion continuous engineering and maintenance fault diagnosis and improvements working alongside other site, business departments and partners on agreed actions.
- Contribute towards maintaining an Operating Site asset register and support in identifying safety critical equipment.
- Effectively participate and contribute to relevant cross site working parties ensuring good practices are shared throughout the department and site.
Qualifications:
- Have completed an apprenticeship in Engineering or Control & Instrumentation or equivalent. OR, hold a minimum of an NVQ L3 qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Have experience working in a 24/7 industrial process completing investigations, troubleshooting, planned repairs, predictive & preventive maintenance, equipment installation, fault finding.
- Be able to maintain all site systems associated with rotating equipment, steam raising systems, material handling equipment (conveyors, shredders, cutters), gas water and air system piping and valves, reactors, distillation systems tanks, tanker loading systems and vehicle fleet management.
- Have experience working correctly & safely to business, legislative and discipline requirements.
Legislation and Discipline Requirements:
- Mechanical; COMAH, PSSR, DSEAR, HASAWA, LOLER.
- Electrical, Control and Instrument; COMAH, ATEX, PSSR, DSEAR, HASAWA, LOLER.
Have previously used CMMS to complete accurate reporting, trending, and improvement.
