Our Head Office is based in Stockton-on-Tees and is home to our administrative support teams, engineering & maintenance support team & energy services teams. The Offices are located on the river Tees with close access to walks, shops and restaurants.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Mechanical Principal Engineering Authority. In this role, you will act as the senior engineer for mechanical engineering within px operations. For this role, mechanical engineering is a broad field including, but not limited to, pressure containment, storage tanks, rotating equipment, civils and structures. The PEA will ensure engineering risks are managed and will assure adherence to sound engineering practices, standards and processes across all operations related to their discipline. You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the groups mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Monitor the health of the discipline engineering capability across px and support the necessary resourcing and development of engineering staff.
  • Resource competent third party contract support for technical assurance and other activities related to their discipline as required.
  • Lead a cross px discipline engineering network to ensure sharing of best practice and alignment across the discipline.
  • Provide, through the discipline network, guidance and support as required to enable the sites to establish and maintain site specific discipline engineering practices, standards and processes.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent.
  • Considerable work experience in regulated, high hazard industries (e.g. Oil & Gas exploration and production, oil refining, gas processing chemicals manufacturing or power generation).
  • Broad experience across mechanical engineering fields including pressure containment (vessels, pipework), storage tanks and rotating equipment.
  • Experience of regulatory compliance and adherence to engineering standards.
