px Group is a fully integrated infrastructure solutions business, providing innovative operations management, engineering services and energy management solutions to partners in high hazard, highly regulated industries. Our focus is improving operating performance of commercial and industrial facilities, with zero harm to people, environment, asset and reputation. Energy Works Hull plant processes up to 240,000 tonnes per year of refuse‑derived fuel (RDF), using advanced fluidised‑bed gasification technology to produce around 25 MW of baseload electricity—enough for approximately 43,000 homes—and offsets about 30,000 t CO₂ annually.

The Lead EC&I Technician will ensure that works are delivered to the px Group Operating Standard, including but not limited to functional safety, cyber security, hazardous area management, instrument systems, HV and LV distribution system, BPCS and EC&I systems. Overall responsibility will cover leadership and delivery of all aspects of EC&I engineering planning and work executed on site. Support will include personalised on‑the‑job training, coaching, mentoring and twice‑yearly development and performance reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the EC&I Engineer in delivery of all EC&I engineering and maintenance processes, systems, reporting mechanisms and contracts to identify and manage operational risk.
  • Record, plan, investigate and rectify faults and issues in line with priorities set by key stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage the EC&I maintenance department and other assigned personnel to meet required standards safely and timely.
  • Manage all third‑party contractors brought onto site under their discipline.
  • Plan, schedule and execute all works within the discipline group for both internal and external resources, liaising with the project team to identify, specify and handover project and major outage works.
  • Implement key site processes including CMMS, maintenance workflow, LOPA, cyber security and strategic spares.

Minimum Requirements

  • Time‑served apprentice, NVQ L3 in mechanical discipline (or equivalent).
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • Equivalent role experience in power generation, energy from waste or 24/7 high‑hazard operational manufacturing environments with significant line management experience.
  • Knowledge of generation, HV/LV distribution systems, DCS and instrumented systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments and third parties.
  • Work safely and in compliance with business, legislative and discipline requirements.
  • Apply legislation: EAWA, HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, SIS, DSEAR, AtEx, AEC.
  • Use a Central Maintenance Management System to complete accurate reporting, trending and improvement of work orders.
