px Group, based in Cumbria, England, is committed to excellence, innovation, and teamwork, which are the reasons for its continuing growth and success. The group operates the Fellside Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant and a high-hazard pipeline supplying the site. The site is an upper tier COMAH installation forming part of the Sellafield COMAH enclave.

The SHEQ Manager is responsible for ensuring that the px business maintains a best-in-class, responsive safety strategy and culture. This includes making sure all employees understand their SHEQ responsibilities and are actively engaged in making safety the top business priority. The role supports the development, leadership, and implementation of the px SHEQ philosophy, strategy, and initiatives, in alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a Positive Safety Culture: Work collaboratively with all px employees, clients, contractors, and visitors to foster a proactive safety culture. Ensure everyone understands and upholds their personal Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) responsibilities.
  • Lead and Develop the SHEQ Team: Manage, develop, and support assigned personnel within the SHEQ function, ensuring effective supervision, professional growth, and overall team performance.
  • Implement and Maintain SHEQ Systems: Support the implementation, communication, and ongoing maintenance of all SHEQ objectives, targets, policies, and procedures. Monitor their effectiveness and drive continuous improvement as needed.
  • Business Management Systems Compliance: Lead the management and continual improvement of Business Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 55001), ensuring ongoing compliance and championing their effective use across the site.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of current UK legislation regarding SHE requirements.
  • NEBOSH general certificate (Must be willing to work toward Diploma).
  • Relevant successful contribution & work experience in a 24/7 industrial environment.
  • Previous experience in a health and safety role.
  • Successful development & implementation of SHE philosophy, strategies and performance measures.
