Our Business: Fairport Tunnelling Technologies (FTT) became a newly established division of Fairport Engineering Limited in 2021. Fairport Engineering Limited has now been acquired by pxGroup and as a result FTT has now become pxFairport.

We are an Engineering and Projects Delivery business specialising in the design, installation, management and consultancy of bulk material handling systems across a number of sectors, with specific expertise in tunnelling, aggregates and ports. With long standing industry expertise, our recent history includes successfully delivering projects in the UK, Europe and Asian markets.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for an Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the integrity and delivery of the electrical engineering and technical elements of work, focusing on the execution of the electrical engineering tasks, ensuring the scope is well defined, controlled, understood, and aligned with the deliverables and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the engineers across the business (technical, process, design and project) as well as other functional managers and subcontractors to progress these deliverables and manage/support any queries that may arise.
  • Act as a technical point of contact with the customer to ensure that feedback is maintained to progress deliverables, clarify scope, and assist the team in identifying technical risk and responding to any queries that may arise.
  • Support proposals/bids with concept design, component requirements, load schedules and engineering time estimations.
  • Review scope, contract, electrical engineering schedules, and client specifications upon handover of the project and execute these deliverables during the life cycle of the project.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum Requirements:

  • HNC in Electrical and/or Controls engineering
  • Experience within a similar field leading a team of electrical engineers in a contract environment.
  • Experience carrying out the detail design, specification and procurement of electrical and control systems associated with material handling systems operating in onerous conditions.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of mechanical processes and the application of process design.
  • Knowledge of current legislative requirements and standards including the IET Wiring Regulations latest edition
  • Ability to participate and contribute to client meetings.
