Our Head Office is based in Stockton-on-Tees and is home to our administrative support teams, engineering & maintenance support team & energy services teams. The Offices are located on the river Tees with close access to walks, shops and restaurants.

The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for an Electrical Engineer (EC&I) to join our Corporate Operations and Maintenance Support Team (OMST).

In this fantastic opportunity you’ll be completing a range of key engineering support, improvement, change and regulatory compliance responsibilities at sites around our expanding business in the gas, power, chemical and fuel industries in a direction to energy transition. Ideally, you’ll be based in the north-east/Yorkshire region and are happy to travel, with around 80% of your time at sites around the UK. This could be a couple of days, weeks, or months, onsite, or working remotely, delivering a mix of hands on, projects, outages, role cover, consulting, planning, and researching that will see you use and continually develop your engineering skills, knowledge, and experience.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, implement, and maintain effective electrical, control & instrumentation engineering systems, strategies, projects, and processes ensuring required performance and compliance are delivered and maintained.
  • Provide appropriate guidance and hands on support (where required) to px personnel and customers on electrical, control & instrumentation engineering matters including regulatory compliance, shutdowns, unplanned/planned events, incidents, projects, modifications, and improvement activities. Seek technical/SHE guidance when necessary. Stop jobs if unsafe or unsure.
  • Ensure technical documentation (dossiers, practises, procedures, guidance, drawings, instructions, systems,) are accurately and consistently sourced, stored, updated, and communicated.
  • Assist in providing functional design specifications on agreed existing and new assets.
  • Complete assigned audits communicating outcomes and driving actions.
  • Deliver projects (capital, revenue/operational, improvement & change management,) consistent with px project management procedures, ensuring changes are raised and approved via the px ‘Management of Change’ process. When required, support client managed projects.
  • Lead and manage assigned px, contract and other personnel, setting and maintaining standards. For px personnel providing supervision, development, welfare, capability, and competence assessment.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation Engineering
  • Successful electrical, control or instrumentation contributions in a 24/7 industrial environment including: Maintenance or fault finding, Contract management, Outage planning/management, Engineering & Operational interface, Developing, implementing & evaluating improvements & mods., Management of change application, Managing budgets, Project design experience from Feasibility to Handover
  • Knowledge of: HSE regulations, Safe Systems of Work, CMMS, Full project lifecycle, Electricity At Work Regulations
  • Reading & interpreting design specifications & technical drawings
  • Knowledge and application of: HV switching and control – operation and planning of, HV electrical equipment: motors, transformers, switchgear & generators, HV protection schemes, HV equipment testing.
