The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Days Instrument Technician at TeesRep Biomass Plant in Middlesbrough.
The Instrument Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all C&I assets. You will be responsible for the Inspection, Maintenance and testing of all Control and Instrumentation systems within the TeesREP power plant. You will carry out calibrations on C&I equipment and components which will include repairing, tuning, and replacement of C&I Components.
In this role you will support other disciplines within the Operations, Engineering and Maintenance Departments to ensure the safe and efficient reliability of the plant.
You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- To complete installation, calibrations, adjustments, troubleshooting and repairs on various types of power plant C&I Equipment and DCS, PLC control systems.
- Provide consistently high levels of supervision of contractors at the site.
- Uses test equipment including, but not limited to: field communicators, calibrators, voltmeters, ammeters, phase indicators, multi-function testers, and oscilloscopes, and able to calibrate Controllers.
- Ensure that all controls are operating and calibrated according to the manufacturer specifications and ensure they have been documented.
- Through research, prescribe preventative maintenance requirements for all C&I equipment for validation by engineering.
- Conduct preventive maintenance of C&I Assets and assure the quality of executing all PM tasks including recording detailed information in the CMMS.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprentice served technician in a relevant Control and Instrumentation discipline.
- Strong background of working hands-on with DCS, PLC and SCADA systems including version control management, access restrictions and testing. Preferably experience with Siemens, Schneider and ABB platforms.
- A foundational understanding of Alarm Management practices.
- A foundational understanding of the use of radioactive isotopes.
- A good understanding of plant processes and how electrical supports generation availability; preferably in a thermal power plant.
