Located in Bradford, West Yorkshire, px Group’s Wyke Agrichemicals Manufacturing Plant site is one of the UK’s leading crop protection manufacturing facilities and an important part of px Group’s Chemical division. The site manufactures and supplies products that help farmers protect crops and produce more from the land. Wyke is a Top Tier COMAH site, operating a complex chemical manufacturing environment where safety, reliability and operational excellence are fundamental to everything we do. With a skilled workforce across manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, supply chain and support functions, the site offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in a highly technical environment.

The Opportunity: We are now recruiting for a Maintenance Leader. As a Maintenance Leader for px Group, Wyke, you will lead the Maintenance Department and be accountable for the delivery of safe, quality assured, timely and cost-effective maintenance and shutdowns (turnarounds) service by employees and contractors to meet the needs of Manufacturing and other site asset owners. You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People Leader of the Maintenance Delivery Team and accountable for their health and safety and performance.
  • Translates and communicates the business strategy and objectives to the maintenance personnel.
  • Provides leadership, coaching and expectations for the personnel participating in the plant goal setting processes.
  • Challenges teams and individuals to set, monitor and achieve goals aligned to the business and site strategies and goals.
  • Accountable for providing a safe, quality assured, competitive, and responsive maintenance service to the site.
  • Safely and efficiently execute preventive/predictive and reactive maintenance, implementing best practices in planning, scheduling and materials and employee & contractor management and work patterns to maximise plant uptime at minimum cost.
  • Accountable for contractor management (long-term, service and specialist) – safety, quality and cost performance.
  • Jointly accountable with Procurement for the selection and verification of contractors and the contractor strategy.
  • Accountable for the continuous improvement of the maintenance work process (Work orders, planning, scheduling, execution and documenting) and the upkeep of the CMMS.
  • Accountable for developing, documenting and continuously improving the shutdown work process and the delivery of safe, well planned and executed shutdowns.
  • Jointly accountable with Manufacturing Leader for ensuring statutory inspections are done on time and escalating any issues to the Engineering Technical Teams for resolution.
  • Jointly accountable with Manufacturing Leader and Engineering Services Manager for the Maintenance budget.
  • Develop and implement maintenance organisation re-design strategy in conjunction with Manufacturing Manager, based on multi-skilling in the maintenance and operating teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree Qualified within Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive Experience working within Maintenance in a high hazard site, ideally a COMAH environment.
  • Experience working as a people manager and within a leadership role.
