Multi-Skilled LV-HV Craft Jointer
Our client wishes to appoint a Multi-Skilled LV-HV Cable Jointer to use hands on electrical and mechanical skills to help build, install and maintain high voltage and low voltage electrical cables, switchgear and substations. Working as part of a team, you will be required to use safe working processes and follow technical drawings to work across both public and private industrial electrical networks. You will need at least five years\’ experience as a Cable Jointer or Craft Jointer within the high voltage power, utilities, electrical sectors. You must have a full valid UK driving licence. The basic salary is £40,000 – £50,000 plus a 10% bonus, fully expensed company vehicle, 37 hour working week, and permanent benefits package.
The Role
·Comply with company H&S processes including completion of daily checks, quarterly equipment calibration, site inductions, annual authorisations, task led point of work risk assessments, safety observations and incident reporting.
·Maintain a safe, orderly and clean working area including vehicles, plant, sites and workshops.
·Promote the company’s reputation through a positive attitude and behaviour, good time keeping and a professional appearance.
·Inspection of substations and associated equipment, including the completion of accurate test reports within 7 working days.
·LV and HV cable installation, jointing and terminations in accordance with the company / manufacturer’s quality specifications and processes and within the time allotted
·Installing and maintaining electrical switchgear and transformers in accordance with the company / manufacturer’s quality specifications and within the time allotted for this activity.
·Fault finding and minor remedial repair works, including photographic evidence and reports (as required) on equipment condition.
·Liaising with customers in organising and arranging work to minimise the impact to their business for both personal access and other employees and subcontractors.
The Person
·Trained and experienced using hand and power tools to unload, measure, cut to size, put together and bolt / fix down electrical equipment
·Experience working with LV and HV electrical system components, plant and equipment, with proven jointing and fitting skills
·Hold a C&G Level 3 or equivalent qualification, a recognised Craft Apprenticeship and or Vocational Training equivalent to NVQ Level 3
·Preferably (but not essentially) hold certificates or authorisations for you to act as a competent person when working on sites and substations
·A good written and verbal communicator to manage internal and external relationships
·Able to use a mobile smart phone with email
·Hold a valid, full UK driving licence
·Desirably (but not essentially) hold PASMA, IPAF, CITB, ECS or Confined Space certifications.
·Desirably (but not essentially) possess experience working in or adjacent to roads and highways, holding an NRSWA accreditation
Our Client
Our client is responsible for the construction, maintenance, upkeep, renewal, refurbishment and repair of electricity transmission and distribution networks, assets and systems. This includes sub-stations, overhead lines, underground cables, and all associated equipment such as switchgear and transformers, as well other disciplines such as renewable energy sources (wind, solar, BESS etc).
