Due to continued growth and a strategy to grow significantly over the next three to five years, our client is searching for a motivated Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician to support activities across major environmental and infrastructure projects.

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, you will install, maintain, and decommission a range of monitoring instruments used to assess ground conditions, water and air quality, structural behaviour, and other key environmental parameters. You will operate on various worksites across the London region, particularly on large public works and environmental monitoring programmes. After receiving full training on our clients equipment, systems and digital platforms, you will be responsible for deploying our dedicated monitoring solutions on construction and infrastructure sites.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys field work, has strong practical and problem-solving skills, and is eager to utilise their experience gained to now work with modern IoT monitoring technologies. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the instrumentation and monitoring system sector.

The Role
  • Prepare materials, equipment, and documentation required for environmental instrumentation installations.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and method statements prior to mobilisation.
  • Install and uninstall various monitoring equipment such as groundwater sensors, vibration and noise monitors, air quality devices, and settlement or movement sensors.
  • Install, configure and commission data loggers, telemetry units and remote monitoring solutions.
  • Maintain accurate installation records, ITPs, and site reports.
  • Supervise sub-contractors when monitoring activities are outsourced.
  • Take manual readings and perform verification checks on instruments.
  • Provide technical support for monitoring systems during operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and installations, sometimes at height and in confined spaces.
The Person
  • Experience related to the installation or maintenance of monitoring instruments (e.g., groundwater sensors, vibration monitors, noise monitors, data loggers, telemetry systems, settlement devices etc.).
  • Experience working with or supervising subcontractors (a plus).
  • A practical, hands-on approach and confidence using electromechanical tools.
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and strong self-motivation.
  • Work effectively as part of a team in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Interest in technology, IoT devices, sensors, and the digitalisation of monitoring equipment.
  • Good adaptability and problem-solving skills in field environments.
