This challenging and exciting Estimator opportunity requires an individual with a good technical background and demonstrable experience in taking the responsibility for producing estimates and tenders from within the piling, foundations or ground engineering sector. This Estimator position features hybrid working, so must be able and willing to commute to the office with part of the week working from home. Locations include Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds and Manchester.

The Person

  • Possess a degree or HNC in a related field, coupled with UK work experience in a similar role
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)
  • Knowledge of various plant, equipment and methods would be advantageous
  • Be competent to a high level in Word, Excel, and internal business systems and procedures
  • Be commercially astute with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Be driven to try to win every tender or bid prepared and submitted
  • Seek feedback and drive continuous improvement of successful tenders or bids
  • Work consistently whilst under pressure to maintain a professional approach at all times
  • Develop a tender strategy given numerous factors, such as; the individual client, the design, and a project’s technical solution and technique, schedule, quality, and the competition etc
  • Develop strong relationships with clients on all levels
  • Attention to detail, with experience in compiling critical data from multiple sources

Due to continued expansion, an abundant pipeline of works, and the recent award of a number of long-term major contracts, our client is now looking to appoint an experienced piling Estimator who will take the responsibility for pricing projects and scopes of work. The successful candidate must be able to review enquiry documentations to determine the key considerations associated with the proposed project. Our client seeks a high calibre candidate with ambition, enthusiasm and drive to make an impact. You must have strong technical acumen coupled with a positive interest in civil engineering. You will also have a professional approach and a keen eye for detail; excellent communication and IT skills are also vital for the role. This role is suitable for an individual with experience across various disciplines of the ground engineering sector.

The Role

  • Secure work in line with the company’s strategy and budgeted margins, with a clearly defined scope and contractual compliance with commercial processes
  • Ensure tenders and bids are reviewed and approved within company governance arrangements
  • Develop relationships with clients for both tenders in hand and for the long term, post completion, to help encourage repeat business or new work opportunities
  • Seek to continuously improve tender and bid success rates from gathering internal and external feedback and monitoring as-built outcomes
  • Ensure tender or bid submissions and client communications are of the highest standard of presentation and clarity, and are submitted on time and contain all the key elements of any given project requirements
