We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to support a major synchronous condenser project in Cilfynydd. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising mechanical installation works on site, ensuring all activities are delivered safely, correctly, and in line with project requirements.
This role would suit someone with strong experience in heavy mechanical installation, rotating equipment, generators, turbines, or power generation projects.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily mechanical installation activities on site.
- Manage mechanical fitters, mechanical helpers, and subcontract labour.
- Oversee installation, alignment, assembly, bolting, and mechanical completion works.
- Ensure work is completed in line with drawings, specifications, RAMS, permits, and site procedures.
- Support the installation of major mechanical equipment associated with synchronous condenser systems.
- Coordinate with site management, commissioning teams, QA/QC, HSE, and other disciplines.
- Monitor progress and report any delays, technical issues, or resource requirements.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and housekeeping.
- Carry out checks on completed works and support punch list close-out.
- Ensure tools, equipment, lifting arrangements, and permits are in place before work starts.
- Support handover from construction through to commissioning.
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on power generation, grid, substation, synchronous condenser, turbine, generator, or heavy industrial projects.
- Strong background in mechanical installation and site supervision.
- Experience with rotating equipment, generators, flywheels, turbines, or similar heavy mechanical packages.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, installation procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of RAMS, permits, site safety, and mechanical construction processes.
- Experience managing mechanical teams in a live project environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with multiple site teams.
- Synchronous condenser project experience.
- Knowledge of mechanical completion, punch lists, and commissioning handover.
- SSSTS / SMSTS.
- CSCS or relevant site card.
- Lifting, rigging, or bolting experience.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Mechanical Supervisor who can lead site teams, keep work moving safely, and ensure mechanical installation is completed to a high standard. Experience in power generation, rotating equipment, or major grid infrastructure projects would be highly beneficial.
