Role Overview
We are looking for a Mechanical Helper / Fitter’s Mate to support mechanical installation works on a major energy infrastructure project in Cilfynydd, South Wales. The successful candidate will work alongside mechanical fitters and site supervisors, assisting with the installation, assembly, positioning and general mechanical works associated with large industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist mechanical fitters with installation and assembly works on site
- Support with bolting, fitting, alignment and general mechanical tasks
- Help with movement, preparation and positioning of materials and equipment
- Use basic hand tools and power tools safely under supervision
- Support lifting, rigging and installation activities where required
- Keep work areas clean, organised and safe
- Follow site health and safety procedures at all times
- Work closely with supervisors, fitters and other site trades
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Helper, Fitter’s Mate, Mechanical Mate, Site Operative or similar
- Experience on industrial, power, energy, mechanical installation or heavy engineering projects preferred
- Comfortable working in a site-based construction environment
- Basic understanding of mechanical tools and installation activities
- CSCS / CCNSG / relevant site safety card preferred
- IPAF, forklift, slinger/signaller or lifting experience would be beneficial but not essential
- Reliable, hard-working and able to follow instructions
- Must be able to travel to site in Cilfynydd
