We are recruiting experienced Mechanical Fitters to support a major synchronous condenser grid stability project in South Wales. This role is focused on the installation, assembly, alignment, and mechanical completion of flywheel systems and associated rotating equipment, and requires confidence in working to high safety and quality standards on a critical national infrastructure project.

  • Mechanical installation of flywheel systems and associated rotating equipment
  • Assembly and fitting of components
  • Carry out precision alignment (laser alignment / dial gauge) and mechanical setting out
  • Assist with mechanical completion, punch listing, and QA walkdowns
  • Interpret engineering drawings, method statements, and installation procedures
  • Lifting plans & rigging support (working alongside crane teams / supervisors)
  • Troubleshooting mechanical issues during installation
  • Work safely in accordance with project HSE standards, reporting hazards and participating in toolbox talks
  • Support commissioning teams during pre-commissioning / rotation checks where required

Proven Mechanical Fitter experience on flywheel installation projects is mandatory. A strong background in rotating machinery installation within power, energy, or industrial environments is essential. Candidates must have the ability to read and work from mechanical drawings, layouts, and GA drawings, as well as familiarity with installation procedures and technical documentation. A strong commitment to safety and quality compliance on regulated sites is required.

  • CCNSG / CSCS (or equivalent site safety card)
  • Confined Space certification
  • IPAF / MEWP certification
  • Manual handling / working at height training
