We are currently recruiting for experienced CMM Programmers / Engineers to support a major engineering and manufacturing programme based at our client's site in Preston. This is an initial 6-month contract with the potential for extension. The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions, with responsibility for CMM programming, dimensional measurement, programme optimisation and manufacturing support. This position would suit a proactive, self-motivated engineer with strong CMM programming experience gained within aerospace, precision engineering or another high-quality manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities * Compile, develop and update CMM programmes for multi-sized components using CATIA V5. * Create prove-out documentation and support try-outs of new CMM programmes. * Update and optimise existing CMM programmes. * Interpret complex engineering drawings, customer specifications, dimensional standards and tolerances. * Support dimensional measurement and inspection activities. * Assist with production processes, material flow and machine utilisation. * Liaise closely with operations, manufacturing and quality teams. * Deliver engineering outputs in line with programme deadlines and quality requirements. * Support Right First Time and continuous improvement initiatives. * Interface with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues. * Attend technical and programme reviews when required. * Work in accordance with relevant QMS and customer quality requirements. Essential Experience * Proven experience programming CMMs for manufactured components. * Strong understanding of dimensional measurement systems and principles. * Experience using CATIA V5. * Knowledge of quality processes, dimensional standards and tolerancing. * Experience undertaking Gauge R&R statistical studies and producing verification reports. * Ability to support the design of fixtures for accurate and repeatable measurements. * Previous experience within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment. * Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. * Strong understanding of process, tooling and measurement requirements. About You You will be a proactive engineer who is comfortable working autonomously while contributing as part of a wider engineering team. You'll have strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality and external stakeholders. An Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, combined with practical engineering and manufacturing experience, is preferred. Previous aerospace experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other high-precision manufacturing industries will also be considered.
