Role Overview
As a Class 1 (C+E) Driver, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of full loads using curtain-side and box trailers. Working night shifts, you’ll ensure deliveries and collections are completed on time, representing P W Gates with professionalism and care. This role is ideal for drivers who enjoy independence and take pride in maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out full-load haulage work using curtain-side and box trailers.
- Ensure all goods are loaded, secured, and transported safely in line with company and legal standards.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
- Maintain accurate records using a digital tachograph and follow driver’s hour’s legislation.
- Communicate effectively with the transport team to ensure smooth night-time operations.
- Represent P W Gates professionally at all delivery and collection points.
- Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driving Licence.
- Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.
- Maximum of 6 penalty points (no IN or DR codes).
- Experience operating curtain-side or box trailers.
- Excellent understanding of drivers’ hours and road safety regulations.
- Professional, reliable, and safety-focused approach to work.
It would be an advantage if candidates also have:
- Previous night trunking or long-distance driving experience.
- Familiarity with PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistant Scanner’s) and vehicle telematics systems.
- Experience handling paperwork such as delivery notes, manifests and PODs.
- A strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing routes, schedules, or operational needs.
- A positive attitude and commitment to high customer service standards.
