Lead the design of advanced control and instrumentation systems for complex offshore oil and gas projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Control & Instrumentation Engineer to take ownership of engineering design across major offshore projects. You will provide technical leadership, act as Design Authority, and ensure project deliverables are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. If you are driven by solving technical challenges, leading multidisciplinary teams, and shaping high-profile offshore systems, this role offers career progression, technical authority, and exposure to cutting-edge oil and gas projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Control & Instrumentation engineering deliverables across projects.
  • Act as Design Authority for C&I systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Design and specify control systems, switchgear, instrumentation, F&G, emergency shutdown, SIF/SIS, and hydraulic packages.
  • Ensure designs meet hazardous area regulations (ATEX, DSEAR) and IEC61508/61511 safety standards.
  • Coordinate and participate in design reviews, workshops, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Oversee technical input from CAD technicians, engineers, and third-party support.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, presentations, and specifications.
  • Support procurement, bid evaluation, and vendor/subcontractor management.
  • Provide engineering input during FATs, SITs, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure project scope, budgets, and schedules are delivered efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • HND or equivalent in Instrumentation, Control, or related discipline; degree desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in oil & gas or petrochemical projects.
  • Proven experience in C&I and safety systems design for offshore projects.
  • Accreditation in IEC61508/61511 (TUV or equivalent).
  • Experience applying DSEAR and hazardous area compliance.
  • Proven track record of delivering project scopes on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of British (BS), European (EN), and international standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Professional, approachable, and collaborative with onshore and offshore teams.
  • Strong communication skills for client, vendor, and team engagement.
