This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer based at Hinkley Point C (HPC), contributing to a landmark nuclear energy programme at a critical stage of delivery. Working within a highly skilled commissioning team, you will combine technical expertise with project delivery experience to support the safe and successful commissioning of major plant systems. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review commissioning documentation, test specifications, and safety documentation.
- Plan and coordinate commissioning activities while taking ownership of allocated test programmes.
- Execute mechanical and process system commissioning tests safely and effectively.
- Lead or support on-site commissioning activities and supervise contractor personnel where required.
- Monitor contractor-led commissioning works to ensure compliance with project standards and procedures.
- Analyse commissioning results and support readiness assessments for commercial operation.
- Resolve technical issues and implement effective engineering solutions.
- Support contractual review, acceptance, and commissioning verification activities.
- Provide progress updates and technical information to the Commissioning Manager.
- Ensure commissioning deliverables are completed on time and in line with project requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree qualified, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and process systems.
- Proven engineering problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience working within safety-critical or highly regulated environments.
- Demonstrable commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Strong ICT literacy, including Excel, SharePoint, Adobe, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to quickly learn and utilise specialist project software platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Collaborative approach with experience working alongside contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of permit-to-work and lock-out/tag-out systems; power generation experience is advantageous.
