Electrical Instrumentation & Telecommunications (EIT) Engineer

Role Overview
Our client is a leading engineering solutions provider, dedicated to excellence in the offshore industry. They specialise in delivering innovative, dependable, and sustainable solutions for their clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Telecommunication Systems:
- Develop and review power distribution systems for remote/unmanned platforms, including solar PV, battery storage, and diesel generators.
- Optimise load management for Low Voltage and High Voltage electrical systems.
- Specify and design IEC 60079-compliant (ATEX/Ex-rated) hazardous area equipment.
- Support power system studies (load flow, fault analysis, relay coordination).
- Ensure robust earthing, lightning, and cathodic protection systems.
- Define electrical packages — lighting, navigation aids, HVAC, switchgear, and more.
- Design instrumentation and control architectures for remote monitoring and operation.
- Develop WHCPs, CIUs, SIS, ESD, and FGS systems.
- Select offshore-suitable instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, metering, flow, valves).
- Conduct SIL assessments and implementation per IEC 61508/61511.
- Assist in the Specification and design of remote communication systems (VSAT, VHF/UHF radios, PAGA, CCTV, and fibre-optic / microwave radio networks).
- Ensure SCADA, RTU, and data telemetry systems are optimised for unmanned operations.
- Implement cybersecurity measures for remote monitoring and control.
- Support testing (FAT / SAT), construction, commissioning activities for electrical and control systems.
- Ensure all EIT designs comply with client standards, API, IEC, DNV, ABS, and local offshore regulations.
- Support HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and functional safety reviews.
- Ensure adherence to IEC 60079 for hazardous area classification (explosive gas environments).
- Implement fail-safe and redundancy measures for unmanned facility control systems.
ESSENTIAL
- Educated to minimum of HND or equivalent standard in Instrumentation or control / Electrical Engineering
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in Instrumentation, control, and safety systems design
- Proven experience in application of DSEAR / ATEX
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the Oil & Gas, Petro Chemical or similar industry
- 15 years' experience in the Oil & Gas, Petro Chemical or similar industry
- Experience of working on or with top tier COMAH sites
- Experience in all aspects of Instrumentation / Control / Electrical / Telecoms engineering.
- Accreditation for the application of IEC61508/61511 (TUV qualification or similar)
