This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to play a pivotal role on a complex, nationally significant nuclear project. You will operate at the heart of major civil works, influencing design, managing geotechnical risk and ensuring the highest standards of safety and technical excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical risk management across a major nuclear civil works programme
  • Define, review and endorse geotechnical requirements and assurance strategies
  • Oversee ground investigations, site trials and Digital Ground Model development
  • Provide technical oversight of earthworks, ground improvement and stabilisation
  • Support foundation, slope, retaining structure and cut-off wall design
  • Manage groundwater control, dewatering and flood mitigation activities
  • Advise on tunnelling, marine, jetty and offshore geotechnical works
  • Assess ground movements near existing nuclear assets
  • Review instrumentation, monitoring and interpretation of data
  • Collaborate with designers, contractors, regulators and delivery teams

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in geotechnical engineering on major infrastructure projects
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered status (CGeol or MICE)
  • Strong grounding in UK design standards and multidisciplinary interfaces
  • Experience across concept, detailed design and construction phases
  • Clear, confident communicator with technical authority
  • Nuclear project exposure is desirable but not essential
  • Postgraduate qualification in geotechnics or ground engineering is advantageous
