About the role: The Technology, Media & Telecoms (TMT) team within M&A Ops is a small team of c. 20 individuals within a broader M&A Ops organisation (c. 200 heads). We work on a wide range of transactions, primarily for private equity houses and large corporates.
Our team comprises both career-consultants and managers from industry, and welcomes diversity of experience in our hires. Our team includes industry hires with backgrounds in technology, operations, engineering, and sales.
We are looking for a Technology Manager, with experience in the TMT sector, who can help our clients to answer the following questions on a transaction by conducting a technology due diligence:
- Are the platform and operations well-invested from an IT / Technology perspective or will I need to spend a lot of cash in the short-term addressing issues?
- Are the platform and operations well designed and can they scale to support our growth ambitions?
- Are the platform and operations robust?
- Do management’s proposed initiatives/projects to enhance the platform and operations effectively support the broader business plan?
The candidate should be able to help support TMT clients and their CTOs with various technology cost assessments, including estimating technology carve-out costs, evaluating operating and capital expenditures, and assessing technology-related synergies. Additionally, a technical understanding of product management in the context of a software business is preferable.
Note that we expect candidates to be able to answer many of the questions above, although we appreciate that all candidates may not have experience in all areas (e.g. we expect some candidates will have more experience on software versus infrastructure).
What your days will look like:
- Managing small project teams;
- Leading workstreams as part of a broader engagement, including owning key pieces of analysis and deliverables;
- Onboarding and coaching junior members of staff.
This role is for you if:
- You have the ability to comment on the appropriateness of a platform’s design choices such as the application architecture and choice of programming languages.
- Currently operates as a consultant, has TMT sector experience, or works in a technical role within a technology / technology-enabled company (and have hands-on experience delivering or supporting technical solutions)
- OR currently operate as a technical due diligence consultant, ideally within the TMT sector, and/or works in a technical role within a technology, media or telecom business.
