People in Deals (PiD) is a market leading team sitting within PwC’s M&A Operations Deals business, advising both corporate and private equity clients across the M&A (merger & acquisitions) cycle, including integration, and with longer term transformation. Our clients include some of the most well-known brands and businesses, who understand that putting people at the heart of any M&A activity is critical to achieving deal value. Our PiD team assists clients with the operational aspects of a transaction relating to the workforce to identify key risks and opportunities, including but not limited to:

  • HR & People Separation
  • Employee relations & consultation
  • Culture, Comms & Change
  • TOM (Target Operating Model) & Org Design
  • Reward separation & harmonisation
  • Talent management and skills agenda
  • HR Function design

As a Senior Associate in the PiD team, you’ll be at the heart of our delivery on some of the most complex and high-profile transactions in the market. You will work closely with colleagues on delivery of client engagements, supporting key workstreams. Drawing on your people expertise, you’ll help organisations navigate critical workforce challenges across the deal lifecycle — from planning and execution to integration and transformation. You’ll be part of a close-knit, high-performing team where you will take ownership of deliverables, provide expertise on workforce-related issues, liaise with clients, and act as a coach and mentor to more junior colleagues.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting specific workstreams within client engagements, delivering high-quality advice and analysis on people issues across the deal lifecycle.
  • Driving project management and commercial delivery within client engagements to ensure seamless execution and impactful client outcomes.
  • Building and managing strong client relationships, influencing stakeholders and supporting business development through proposals, thought leadership, and sector insights.
  • Managing and coaching junior team members, providing feedback and guidance to develop their skills and ensure quality delivery.
  • Working effectively in fast-paced, deal-driven environments, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Contributing to practice development initiatives, including proposition development, knowledge sharing, and team growth.

What you will need:

  • We’re looking for individuals with a passion for people issues.
  • Experience in deals or transformation is beneficial but not essential.
  • Knowledge of workforce impacts and priorities in transactions.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience with tools such as Excel, Power BI or other data visualisation/analysis platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to leverage AI and digital tools to enhance analysis, improve efficiency, and deliver innovative solutions to clients.
  • Some experience of coaching others and fostering collaboration across teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Experience in consulting or professional services would be advantageous, but not essential.
