Our Audit of Tax (AoT) practice sits at the intersection of tax technical expertise and audit quality. As a core member of our Audit of Tax Specialist (ATS) Network, you will take a leading role in delivering complex audits of tax for some of the UK’s largest and most internationally diverse businesses. Your portfolio will be centred on AoT work (50-100% of your time), with the opportunity to develop a complementary tax advisory portfolio, particularly in tax accounting, where the technical fit with AoT is a natural extension of the specialism.

You will work alongside experienced Directors and Partners across our national ATS network, contributing to best practice, technical training, and the continued growth of the specialism within the firm. We offer a clear career path through to Director, with a potential pathway to Partner, supported by strong investment in coaching and professional development at every level. We seek to attract the best people from a diverse talent pool and encourage a culture where people can be themselves and be valued for their strengths.

This is what makes us a strong organisation with an increasingly agile workforce which is why we've introduced the 'Deal' – including an 'Empowered day' (more freedom around working pattern), hybrid working (with 40-60% of time expected co‑located with colleagues in office or client sites) and summer working hours (a reduced working day on a Friday in July and August with hours condensed into the rest of the week).

Examples of the skills, knowledge, and experiences you need to lead and deliver value at this level include but are not limited to:

  • UK professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT, or legal qualification), or overseas equivalent
  • Demonstrable audit of tax or tax accounting experience, for example on international audits or tax accounting assignments for large corporate groups
  • Good understanding of tax accounting requirements across UK GAAP and IFRS, including some experience of common tax accounting areas relevant to international groups (e.g. business combinations, deductibility of finance costs, tax uncertainties)
  • Strong understanding of audit risk and how it is managed through procedures and documentation
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven ability to solve complex problems collaboratively
  • Experience of developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders

This role is for you if:

  • Working within teams to deliver complex audits of tax, liaising with technical and cross line of service specialist teams as required.
  • You will produce or review detailed, high quality audit documentation, ensuring compliance with audit methodologies and documentation standards.
  • You will coach and delegate effectively to the juniors on the team.
  • Our audit of tax specialists are involved in a broad range of audit issues, including tax risks associated with international supply chain, finance structures, the impact of changing tax rules, the impact of major corporate transactions and appropriately accounting for tax uncertainties.
  • You will have the opportunity to work with experienced Directors and Partners across our national network.

What you'll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions. We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
