As a team of specialists, your role as a Senior Associate in CMAS will involve applying technical expertise to solve problems and advise clients as they navigate changes in their business. Specifically, we are looking for a Digital Accountant with a strong background in accounting and audit, with experience and skills in the use of data analytic tools and advanced Excel (financial modelling experience desirable but not required). We are looking for agile and flexible individuals who are able to identify tech‑enabled solutions to client problems using a mix of technical accounting and reporting expertise allied with the right digital mindset. We are also looking for individuals who are adept at learning new technologies quickly, to help our clients enhance their existing accounting and reporting processes through digitisation and automation of the preparation of financial information, including those required for deals (e.g., carve‑out accounts preparation).

Key responsibilities

  • Advise and assist clients in developing practical solutions to complex accounting and reporting issues under IFRS, UK GAAP and/or US GAAP.
  • Utilise technology tools such as Alteryx, Power Query, and Power BI to help clients automate accounting and reporting processes and solve complex accounting and reporting issues.
  • Preparation of accounting position papers, accounting analyses, historical financial information, financial statements, and carve‑out accounts.
  • Manage time, prioritise tasks, problem‑solve, self‑review work and produce deliverables of high quality under tight client deadlines in time‑pressured environments.
  • Agile adaptation to new tools and practices in data analytics as part of continuous professional development.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA or international equivalent). Must be exam & time qualified.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in accounting, preferably with an audit background or CMAS/deals experience.
  • Proficiency to an intermediate level with extensive day‑to‑day use and/or certifications in Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI, or similar data analysis tools at an intermediate level or higher – can give examples or demos.
  • Proficiency in Excel to advanced level – can give examples or demos.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and manage technical accounting issues.
  • Agility in learning and mastering new data analytics tools and accounting technologies on the job.
  • Financial modelling experience and/or US GAAP experience is beneficial, but not critical.

Desirable skills

  • Comfortable with technology‑driven problem‑solving in accounting and reporting.
  • Innovative thinking capabilities to develop new solutions for complex accounting and reporting challenges.
