An exciting role for a computer scientist or software engineer, interested in learning and writing about innovative technologies created in the UK. It is also an opportunity to learn about R&D legislation that encourages companies to carry out R&D in the UK. The role is ideal for an experienced computer scientist, software engineer or an R&D specialist, providing an opportunity to study (at a broad level) R&D carried out by companies across the UK, focusing on R&D in information technology. What your days will look like:
- Prepare and present R&D Legislation Guidlines.
- Lead interviews with client engineers to identify the R&D in small projects.
- Support other technical team members to identify the R&D in large projects.
- Draft documents summarising the R&D nature of the client engineering projects.
- Delegate or train junior team members to assist with the drafting of documents.
- Review documents prepared by junior team members to ensure the quality.
- Ensure the quality of the technical documents which will be submitted to HMRC.
- Collaborate with R&D legislation experts in the team, to help quantify R&D costs.
- Collaborate with project team management to ensure timely delivery of tasks.
- Computer science or software engineering university degree (or masters or PhD).
- Academic or industry experience in software engineering or IT.
- Inquisitive and able to quickly understand (at a high level) complex technologies.
- Enthusiasm to learn and describe new and emerging software or IT technologies.
- Consistently demonstrate teamwork dynamics by working as a team member.
- Takes responsibility to complete tasks in time and at a high standard.
- Contribute to a positive work environment building collaborative relationships.
- Committed to continuous training and to proactively learning.
- Dedicate time to delegate and manage junior team members.
- Dedicates time to train junior members to learn during the project work.
- Experience in writing technical documents to present to other lead stakeholders.
- Excellent in engineer to engineer communications with client lead engineers.
- Enjoy engineering interviews and adjusts the style to understand, areas of R&D.
- Preferred (but not mandatory), prior experience with R&D claims preparations.
