Your role is to support data protection and commercial legal teams in maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory obligations relating to data protection and cyber security. Working closely with Privacy, Information Security, and Risk Management colleagues, you will help guide the organisation through privacy requirements and provide advice on UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You will also support contractual reviews involving clients and vendors, ensuring data protection considerations are addressed. Additionally, you will help maintain up‑to‑date templates, policies, and privacy training materials to strengthen the organisation's overall compliance framework.

What your days will look like:

  • Research regulatory guidance, enforcement actions, and relevant case law to support data protection activities
  • Provide advice on controller/processor roles, data subject rights, international data transfers, e‑marketing, cookies, and handling of special category data
  • Support data protection contracting, including reviewing and drafting data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses
  • Assist in embedding data protection policies, supporting compliance work, completing DPIAs, and maintaining records of processing activities

This role is for you if:

  • You have knowledge of English law with approximately 1–3 years' post‑qualification experience (or equivalent)
  • You have experience in-house or in private practice advising on commercial contracting or data protection matters
  • You have strong drafting and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • You can review legal documents quickly and accurately identify key issues
  • You show willingness to develop expertise in data privacy legislation, regulatory developments, and case law
  • You are self‑motivated and confident working independently, while seeking support from senior team members when needed
