About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Tax Innovation & Capital Incentives (ICI) team within our Listed and Inbound (L&I) tax team. The team emphasizes growth and serves a diverse range of clients across industries such as engineering, pharmaceuticals, food & drink, manufacturing, financial services, and IT & software development. This role is ideal for someone with a background in computer science or software engineering who enjoys applying their technology knowledge in a client-facing capacity.
Our team is part of a large national network of ICI specialists, offering some flexibility in location. Members come from diverse backgrounds, including general tax, audit, and industry sectors, bringing a variety of skills and perspectives to deliver exceptional client service. The role involves direct client engagement from day one, with expectations to establish and maintain effective relationships and lead client communications independently. Previous experience in R&D Tax credits is not mandatory.
What your days will look like:
- Leading client relationships, managing deadlines, conducting meetings, handling queries, and establishing yourself as a trusted contact.
- Participating in interviews with client technical teams to explain R&D tax legislation and identify qualifying projects.
- Preparing technical reports on R&D activities across various industries.
- Collaborating with internal financial teams to quantify eligible R&D expenditures based on clients\’ development activities.
- Seeking opportunities to add value by leveraging expertise within the broader tax team and other service lines.
- Supporting and developing junior staff through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Engaging proactively in business development to identify opportunities with existing and new clients.
- Managing multiple stakeholders across the national ICI network.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on industry developments and tax regulations.
This role is for you if:
- You hold a Bachelor\’s or Master\’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Sciences, Technology, or related fields, or have industry experience in software engineering or IT.
- You can identify and articulate research activities undertaken by clients.
- You possess strong written and verbal communication skills to lead client interactions and liaise effectively with teams, translating complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- You are autonomous and proactive in your development, capable of working independently.
- You have a passion for client service and enthusiasm for engaging with clients at all levels.
- You have strong organizational skills to manage multiple clients and stakeholders.
- Excel and analytical skills are beneficial for understanding numerical claims and data compilation.
- You have good problem-solving skills, capable of thinking independently and proposing solutions.
