Non Life Actuary – Risk & Capital – Senior Manager
Posted 1 month ago. Apply early to secure a spot among top candidates.
The PwC Actuarial practice comprises over 300 partners and staff, with offices in London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol and Mumbai. We focus on non‑life, life, banking and non‑insurance, supported by a partner team of fifteen. Our practice is market‑leading in General Insurance and reinsurance, working with big multi‑national composites, Lloyd’s and London Market, UK & European Personal & Commercial, and Reinsurance Market including many well‑known brands.
About the Role
You will provide advice covering solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and risk control, financial modelling, business planning, new legislation, and the efficiency and reliability of reporting processes. The role delivers general insurance consulting services to clients such as insurers, regulators, private equity, agents and administrators.
What Your Days Will Look Like
- You’ll provide advice covering solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and risk control, financial modelling, business planning, new legislation, and the efficiency and reliability of reporting processes.
- A career within the Non‑Life Actuarial team will allow you to contribute general insurance advice and consulting services to clients such as insurers, regulators, private equity, and related companies such as agents and administrators.
- Our successful Risk & Capital proposition is growing fast — responding to client challenges in the face of changing commercial pressures, M&A and regulation. We are seeing increasing demand to help clients understand their risks more quantitatively and how this impacts their capital and growth plans and are looking to grow our team.
- As a Manager, you\’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. You’ll manage and deliver a wide range of concurrent actuarial and multidisciplinary assignments where you’ll interact with clients, often as the main point of contact on assignments. You’ll also have the opportunity to work in multidisciplinary teams or with people from our network firms overseas.
- You’ll take an active role in supporting the strategic management and running of the practice, e.g. through being involved in developing one of our core product areas in risk and capital, such as risk challenge or ESG, or developing and presenting training programs for graduates and staff.
- You’ll be involved in the development of more junior staff through on‑the‑job coaching, or acting as a career coach, mentor or study mentor.
This Role Is For You If
- You will also have a good understanding of a broad range of commonly used capital modelling, risk management techniques and broader commercial awareness of the key issues faced by the market and an ability to communicate complex, technical issues to senior management simply and incisively is essential.
- Additionally, experience across our wider offering would be viewed favourably (Catastrophe Risk; Reserving & Pricing; Deals; IFRS17; Audit) as would a focus on new and emerging areas (e.g. Cyber, Climate, ESG).
- You will have experience in risk and capital modelling (for example, model development and implementation, and model validation), and a strong understanding of insurance risks and their dependencies or have a strong desire to develop such a focus.
- Experience with Solvency II internal models, risk management, capital modelling software packages (Igloo, ReMetrica, Tyche) and managing regulatory relationships would be advantageous.
What You’ll Receive From Us
No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions. We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
