Our clients are all urgently seeking to re‑platform their businesses—modernising legacy IT estates, reducing cost, enhancing efficiency and creating the foundations to scale. As they streamline their core platforms, they are increasingly focused on building modern data architectures and enterprise‑wide data platforms that allow them to harness their end‑to‑end fund and investment data. This shift is enabling firms to generate deeper insight, drive operational excellence, improve investment decision‑making and accelerate their transformation agenda. Market momentum across the AWM sector is building rapidly, and we must put in place the leadership and structure required to capture this demand and support our clients as they reshape their operating models for the future.
An MD is required to build out and lead our AWM Core Platform team, building a team of leading practitioners, that covers core platforms, outsourcing, data solutions, and the increasing impact of AI; defining our GTM strategy, originating and converting market demand, leading and inspiring our teams. This leader will play a pivotal role in shaping market strategy, driving client transformation, and building high‑performing teams that deliver sustained outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Market Leadership and Growth: Lead relationship development across the AWM sector, engaging senior executives and shaping front‑to‑back transformation agendas. Drive market growth through identifying client needs and originating opportunities across Aladdin integration, operating model redesign and end‑to‑end investment operations.
- Client Delivery and Technology Expertise: Oversee complex operational and technology transformation programmes, including ALPHA, Aladdin & Simpcorp One implementations, middle‑ and back‑office outsourcing, and core investment platform modernisation. Apply deep expertise across AWM operating models, investment ecosystems and adjacent platforms to deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, cost and regulatory readiness.
- People and Team Leadership: Develop and lead multidisciplinary consulting teams, supporting recruitment, mentoring and capability building across the Aladdin and wider front‑to‑back transformation offering. Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture focused on delivery excellence and sustained client impact.
- Strategic and Commercial Leadership: Shape PwC’s AWM consulting strategy by developing propositions that address emerging market challenges and regulatory pressures. Achieve sales targets for Aladdin‑related work and broader AWM transformation opportunities, contributing to sustained growth of the practice.
- Thought Leadership and Market Presence: Maintain a strong external profile through thought leadership, market engagement and industry contribution across AWM transformation themes. Demonstrate credibility through hand on delivery of high‑impact work, including large‑scale operating model redesigns, investment platform implementations and global fund builds.
- Track record of consulting related sales within the AWM industry gained from having worked in a similar Consulting organisation rather than Industry or Vendor side.
- Demonstrated ability to advise and influence C‑Suite clients - becoming a truly ‘trusted advisor’.
- Experience of having led the development (recruitment, training, mentoring, proposition development etc.) of similar professional service organisations.
- Safe delivery - ability to lead both UK and global teams of OM’s, BA’s, design, data and solution architects through the complex multi year lifecycle.
- Proven vendor relationships and track record in Asset Management technologies and implementation experience with all of the key ones (e.g. Aladdin, ALPHA, Simpcorp).
- Proven vendor relationships, track record and knowledge of the core Middle Office providers (State Street RKS/ADS, NT IOO, BNY Encore/DataVault).
- Knowledge of Asset Servicer Platforms (multifonds etc.) is beneficial but not essential.
- Deep understanding of the end to end AM operating model, as well as experience with process improvement.
- Strong front to back functional and operational understanding of the role of all of the key players in the AWM value chain and across the lifecycle of a trade.
- Knowledge of the asset classes and products that our clients typically invest in (Equities, FI, Derivatives, PE, Real Estate, etc…).
- Familiarity with other key systems and infrastructure used by AWM businesses across their front to back investment processes.
- Commercial management - experience of forecasting and managing a P&L.
- Thought leadership - visionary in chosen domain, which is evidenced through followship, publicly available presentations and seminars.
- Significant experience gained within this space from a recognised consulting firm similar to PwC.
- Deep understanding of the AWM sector, key trends and its transformation agenda.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted executive relationships and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen and delivery excellence.
