At PwC, our people in tax services focus on providing advice and guidance to clients on tax planning, compliance, and strategy. In tax financial services at PwC, you will assist businesses in preparing and reviewing tax provisions, tax returns, and financial statements, confirming compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.
About the role
Our Financial Services Tax Disputes team is a market leading practice that has been built to support Financial Services clients with their immediate tax dispute risk needs as well as their overall tax compliance and disputes strategy. The team has achieved double digit growth in the last few years with a strong existing pipeline of work. We offer an end-to-end disputes proposition to clients to help reduce the risk of disputes arising or to manage them through to a successful outcome. Our work crosses all of the different taxes.
The team's integration into PwC's FS tax business enables it to offer clients an FS specialist fully integrated tax disputes offering, covering all stages of the dispute from initial enquiry and investigation to final resolution either by agreement or through the courts. Litigation is not a separate stage in the resolution process - it is part of that process to be used when required. Clients come to us because we understand their businesses; we have a market leading track record of achieving positive outcomes and we pride ourselves on giving clear strategic advice.
Every potential dispute and client circumstance is different, what matters is our ability to flex how we resolve disputes together with our clients and their senior stakeholders. This includes advising and supporting clients across other settlement mechanisms such as ADR or Treaty resolution as well as our recognised expertise in tax litigation. The breadth of the Financial Services client base within PwC means that the team has exposure to all types of issues and therefore no project is ever the same. Clients are offered a bespoke advisory service where the options for managing disputes depend on their own strategic aims and relationship with HMRC.
A key difference is that our team frequently supports clients across multiple issues building in depth relationships of our own alongside our advisory colleagues. The team includes a mix of lawyers, ex-HMRC staff and tax disputes specialists with varied backgrounds and experience, and draws upon that different expertise day to day in managing client matters. We care about each other's personal and professional development at all levels, and we continue to have investment from the wider FS business unit to support the team's growth ambitions. It is an exciting time to be part of the team as it grows both in terms of size and pipeline, with opportunities for working across a variety of clients and multiple different tax issues. All of the above means there is also a positive environment for development and progression through the grades.
