As a Director, you will lead a team of senior architects supporting business leaders by providing deep technical expertise, architectural rigor and scalable solution design. You will ensure that complex business requirements are translated into robust, delivery-ready AI architectures. A key focus of this role is enabling high-quality solutions from the outset—reducing rework, avoiding bespoke designs, and increasing the reuse of proven assets and patterns. You will play a critical role in ensuring that early-stage AI solutions are grounded in delivery reality, with security, scalability and long‑term value embedded from day one.

What You’ll Do

  • Shaping AI solutions at early stages to ensure they are scalable, secure and aligned to delivery capability
  • Defining and embedding standard architecture patterns and reusable solution designs
  • Driving reuse of accelerators, prototypes and proven solution components
  • Acting as the senior technical authority in complex client and internal discussions
  • Improving the quality, consistency and robustness of solution design and proposals
  • Working closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure alignment between design and implementation
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders to challenge assumptions and guide technical decision‑making

This Role Is For You If You Have

  • Proven experience leading solution architecture or technical pre‑sales teams
  • Strong background in designing enterprise‑scale AI and data‑driven solutions
  • Demonstrated experience translating early‑stage concepts into scalable technical architectures
  • Ability to balance commercial urgency with sound architectural governance
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels without direct authority
  • Confidence engaging with both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Experience defining, implementing and enforcing architecture standards and best practices
  • Strong collaboration skills across business, architecture and engineering teams

How to prepare for a job interview at PwC UK

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If PwC UK uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
