Roles and Responsibilities

As a competency, you will be expected to lead and build on multiple areas within the public sector. However, we expect you to bring expertise in one or more of the following areas in the Sports Sector: Sports Strategy and Governance, Sport Federations, Sports Clubs, Sports Events, Sport Facilities, Community Sports, Media Rights, Sponsorship, Fan Engagement, Discipline focused strategies e.g. Football, esports, Equestrian Sports etc.

As a Manager/Senior Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional Skills and Responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:

  • Support the team in growing the sports practice by managing and participating in the development and presentation of proposals for business development activities.
  • Lead and deliver large, complex client engagements that identify, design, and implement creative solutions for Public Sector entities, helping them develop strategies, restructure their organizational structures, and service delivery models.
  • Implement and oversee the quality of deliverables, effectively manage the functional and technical team, support functional tracks of the transformation and relationships to ensure exceptional performance.
  • Continuously expand on knowledge of the Middle East sports environment and work with colleagues in all Middle Eastern offices on client work and internal initiatives as well as with international teams where appropriate.
  • Train and develop junior team members.
  • Evaluate project outcomes in terms of quality, consistency, accuracy, overall value, completion dates, and provider performance.
  • Ensure that recording and maintaining a project database containing all related information (data, documents, reports, etc.) takes place.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Sports Consulting environment.
  • Experience in the Middle East region is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in English. Arabic is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major with a preference for a Masters.
  • Years of Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience.

  • Client-Facing Experience : Ability to build and manage long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders.
  • Effective Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex ideas and solutions to non-technical clients.
  • Negotiation Skills : Ability to negotiate contracts, project terms, and fees to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.

4. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Strategic Thinking : Ability to see the big picture, align projects with the broader strategic goals of the client, and provide insightful recommendations.
  • Data Analysis : Strong analytical skills for evaluating client needs, monitoring project performance, and providing data-driven insights.
  • Creative Problem Solving : Ability to identify problems and quickly develop innovative solutions to meet client objectives.

5. Business Acumen

  • Industry Knowledge : In-depth understanding of the client’s industry, challenges, and trends, allowing you to provide tailored advice and solutions.
  • Sales & Business Development : Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities, contribute to sales processes, and understand the financial aspects of consulting.
  • Financial Management : Experience in managing project budgets, optimizing profitability, and understanding financial metrics related to consulting services.

6. Change Management

  • Adaptability : Ability to adapt to rapidly changing client needs, market conditions, or internal organizational shifts.
  • Facilitating Change : Experience in helping clients manage change, from process improvements to organizational transformations.
  • Implementation Support : Knowledge of how to implement changes effectively in client organizations, ensuring that recommended solutions are successfully adopted.
