Our client, a progressive Kent-based small-works, fit-out and refurbishment contractor, is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their dynamic, client-focused team. This role requires an individual with strong commercial knowledge of construction and building services, alongside knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts. The successful candidate will also have the ability to take contracts from inception to final account.
Based from their Kings Hill offices in Kent, the successful candidate will also be required to travel to client sites across London and the South East. They are looking for someone who is highly organised, IT literate, detail-oriented and has a strong commercial knowledge base. The candidate must be proactive and confident communicating with clients, suppliers and colleagues. A positive attitude and ability to develop within the growth of the business are essential.
Our client delivers specialist projects across the commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors, with contract values from £50k up to £2m each and they believe in a client-focused approach. Projects range from full refurbishments to mechanical and electrical upgrades, complex lighting control schemes and high-end fit-out.
This is a Permanent, Full-time role paying up to £60k PA + Package DOE.
Responsibilities will include:
- Produce high-quality, professional cost schedules and tender submissions alongside existing project team.
- Diverse range of projects across commercial and industrial sectors, encompassing Mechanical, Electrical and Fit Out works.
- Engage proactively with clients and the business directors to thoroughly understand project requirements and have the ability to offer tailored technical solutions.
- Provide a thorough understanding of project and product specifications and identify cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct comprehensive site visits and assessments to accurately evaluate project scope, specific client requirements, and potential technical challenges, ensuring all proposals are accurate and well-informed.
- Proactively identify and manage opportunities for value engineering to optimize project outcomes on behalf of both client and to enhance efficiency, reflecting our client's commitment to delivering economical solutions.
- Assistance with the project management of bespoke and technically intricate small to medium-sized projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant health and safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of projects.
For this role, the successful candidate will have proven and demonstrable experience as a Building Services or Commercial Project Manager (or in a similar role within the building and infrastructure industry), with a high level of attention to detail. Exposure to multiple discipline commercial and industrial projects, ideally within specialist environments. Experience and knowledge of costings and estimating of projects utilising understanding of scope and durations rather than rates. Strong and comprehensive understanding of technical specifications, product performance criteria, and practical installation requirements across Mechanical, Electrical, and Fit-Out disciplines. Strong organizational and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Project. Familiarity with NEC and JCT forms of contract demonstrating an understanding of industry-standard contracts and frameworks. Knowledge of relevant health and safety, quality, and environmental standards. A full UK Driving License is a pre-requisite.
