We are seeking a Vice President, Alternative Operations, to join our global Alternatives Operations team in London.

This team supports PIMCO's Alternative Credit, Special Situations, and Insurance Solutions platforms, including complex private debt, distressed investments, private equity vehicles, structured financing arrangements, and separately managed accounts.

The role will primarily support European-based Portfolio Managers and investment strategies while partnering closely with teams across London, Newport Beach, New York, Austin, and Dublin.

The Vice President will serve as a senior operational partner to Portfolio Management, providing oversight across the full lifecycle of private and originated investments, from deal execution and funding through settlement, ongoing asset maintenance, restructurings, and final exit events.

The individual will work cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Treasury, Product Strategy, Tax, and third-party service providers to ensure operational readiness and a robust control environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, enhancing controls, managing key service provider relationships, leading strategic initiatives, and serving as an escalation point for complex financing structures, bespoke transactions, and operational issues across European portfolios.

This role requires a strong understanding of private credit markets, complex debt structures, alternative investment operations, and project leadership within a fast-paced investment environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary operational partner to European Portfolio Managers supporting Special Situations, Private Credit, Distressed, Opportunistic and other Alternative Credit strategies.
  • Provide oversight of private lending transactions, including funding, settlement, cash management, lifecycle events, restructurings, amendments, refinancings, and exits.
  • Lead operational due diligence and execution readiness for new investment strategies, financing structures, separately managed accounts, and bespoke transactions.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex operational issues involving custodians, administrators, loan agents, counterparties, and outsourced service providers.
  • Oversee outsourced providers performing settlements, asset setup, waterfall calculations, income processing, reconciliation activities, and investment accounting support.
  • Partner with Portfolio Management, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, Tax, Product Strategy, and Finance teams to ensure timely execution of transactions and operational support of investment strategies.
  • Review and challenge operational processes to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, risk reduction, and control enhancement.
  • Lead cross-functional projects related to technology enhancements, operational transformation, regulatory initiatives, and platform growth.
  • Oversee investment monitoring processes, payment tracking, drawdown execution, financing facilities, covenant reporting, and portfolio-level operational controls.
  • Review operational impacts of complex transactions, including restructurings, distressed exchanges, debt-for-equity conversions, share conversions, and special corporate actions.
  • Manage relationships with banks, custodians, administrators, trustees, and other external service providers to ensure high service quality and accountability.
  • Support investor, client, auditor, and regulatory inquiries related to operational processes, controls, and investment activity.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and subject matter expertise to junior team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional designation preferred.

Minimum 8-12 years of experience supporting alternative investments, private credit, structured products, special situations, syndicated loans, or related debt products.
