About the role
We are seeking a Policy Wording Specialist to join our Head Office function on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment that will broaden your skillset, and which will enable you to make a difference by helping to shape our underwriting approach. Working within the Head Office Underwriting Team, you'll be part of the team which proactively maintains and continuously improves the policy literature suite across our General Insurance products. Using your underwriting expertise and judgement, you'll ensure policy literature is effective and consistent in portraying underwriting risk appetite and giving cover to members as intended.
You’ll act as a final point of referral in relation to policy literature for all classes of business whilst continuously reviewing, approving, and ensuring consistency with policy wordings and associated documents and communications. You’ll review policy literature in the wider market to ensure that future risks and opportunities are identified and acted upon appropriately whilst continually improving organisation-wide expertise in policy literature. This role will initially focus on supporting the Policy Wording team and the management of policy literature across our General Insurance products. As business priorities evolve, the role will also provide opportunities to support wider change and transformation projects, giving exposure to strategic initiatives and cross-functional business activities. This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys variety, learning new skills and working in a changing environment.
We understand how important a positive work-life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 80% of your hours from home. We’d welcome applicants from all of our NFU Mutual regional centres - Stratford-upon-Avon, Belfast, Bristol, Glasgow and York.
About you

This role will include significant interaction across different areas of the business, so it is important that you can demonstrate:
- Strong stakeholder management, collaboration and communication skills
- Confidence and ability to influence, challenge and provide expert judgement when required
- Resilience and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyse complex information and make sound decisions
- A diligent eye for detail whilst remaining proactive and flexible in your approach
- Experience of working with policy documentation, policy wording or coverage interpretation
- General insurance experience in personal or commercial lines, with exposure to insurance products and an understanding of how underwriting and claims functions work together to deliver customer outcomes
