JOB PURPOSE

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our famous Marmite site and become part of an enthusiastic and brand-driven team in the Burton-on-Trent Unilever factory.

Our site is going through an exciting expansion with the addition of a new sourcing unit producing our Hellmann's and Colman's products too.

We are seeking proactive and experienced individuals to drive our business forward in this exciting time.

Unilever is world renowned for its brands from PG Tips, Persil, Comfort, Dove, Knorr, Hellmann's and Pot Noodle all manufactured at our UK sites.

We are recruiting Shift Engineers who are specialist on Corrective and Preventative Maintenance, engaged to troubleshoot to fix and improve machine performance.

After the breakdown, the engineer will lead the root cause analysis to eliminate the fault by preventive maintenance and recommend design improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate in the preventative maintenance planning for the area, ensuring that all work is risk assessed, appropriate resource is available and utilised and the tasks can occur without conflicting requirements.
  • Take part in regular inspections/audits for good housekeeping/5S and machine safety and ensure agreed action are completed.
  • Setup equipment to manufacture products in accordance with quality procedures and standards to achieve the product quality targets at minimal waste levels (inc change-overs).
  • Take immediate actions (adjustment) to rectify issues that have a negative impact on quality.
  • Complete improvement activities prioritised by the Focused Technician to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Support the AM activities (eg tagging, lubricating, deep cleaning, generating OPLs, cell meetings, step audits, board updating, elimination of contamination sources and elimination of hard to access areas).
  • Be proactive on the cell/team meetings and bring relevant issues for discussion and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform 5S audit according to the defined schedule and implement the improvement actions.
  • Complete EWOs using Quick Kaizen Tools and Techniques within 1 week of breakdown. Transfer to FT to complete if more advanced Kaizen tools are required.
  • Look to reduce frequency and time of PM schedules through improvements or loss reduction.
  • Ensure good quality information on breakdown reports and EWOs are raised as required.
  • Pro-actively support WCM pillar activities providing feedback and promoting application on the site.
  • Actively participate in relevant line changes using appropriate project management tools to ensure efficient and successful project management.
  • Safety – Utilise all appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team.
  • Work Place Hazards – Full knowledge of the workplace and hazards within it.

  • Leadership – Promote the development of a highly effective team through strong communication, leading by example whilst keeping focused on goals and targets.

  • Continuous Improvement – Use performance measures to identify and prioritise losses in production area.

Apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses.

  • WCM – Knowledge and understanding of the key principles of WCM and the impact this has on the Key Performance Indicators in the production area (PQSCDMI); must understand the critical inter‑relation between WCM and TPM.
  • Problem Solving – Has the ability to identify, prioritise and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence.
  • Decision Making – Makes and implements technical decisions which can impact the plan for the week.
  • Project Management – Achieve the desired outcomes of the project in line with agreed plans using appropriate project management tools and techniques to ensure the efficient use of technical, financial and human resources.
  • Business Awareness – Understanding of the need to meet changing demands and the role of marketing and product innovation in growing the business and increasing the company's.
  • 5S – Fully operational.

  • Electrical and Mechanical fault finding and rectification.
