The Role M&G Life covers over 5 million customers with more than £300bn invested across all of its products and wrappers, and has an ambitious growth plan for 2025 and beyond.

M&G Life operations work with a number of partners including Equiniti, Diligenta, Waystone, Paragon, Willis Towers Watson, as well as M&G Global Services supporting our in‑house operation.

M&G Life is making material investments in its digital and data capabilities, to improve customer experience, streamline processes, improve controls and embed data in the way we operate.

We are ramping up a number of M&G Life programmes to drive material improvements in complex processes operating across the Life Insurance business, including distribution, operations and Finance, through reengineering and automating processes and better access to data.

You will be the bridge between what the business needs and what technology delivers.

This is a hybrid role - part business analyst, part data specialist - where you will need to roll up your sleeves and analyse source systems directly, not just document what stakeholders tell you.

You will translate complex data requirements into actionable specifications, challenge requirements that are unfeasible or technically costly, and ensure data definitions align consistently across business groups.

This role is about building permanent, in‑house expertise and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities for this Role

  • Work with the business to understand existing business processes and to identify opportunities to simplify and re‑design business processes and controls (including automation/AI)
  • Use data analysis and process mining techniques to baseline performance, identify bottlenecks and quantify improvement opportunities.
  • Work with Technology teams to determine the most appropriate technology solution to support the redesigned/automated business processes, challenge the Technology teams where appropriate
  • Document the redesigned business processes using tools such as Microsoft Visio, including documenting the standard, exception and failure scenarios, assessing upstream and downstream business flows, dependencies and interdependencies
  • Redesign and document business validations and automated checks and controls ensuring that controls are drafted in line with good practice
  • Define, track and report process improvement benefits including efficiency gains, cost reduction and customer outcomes
  • Work with business stakeholders within the Life business to elicit, identify and document and translate business requirements into functional and non‑functional requirements, ensuring definitions align across business groups
  • Elicit, document and translate business needs into specifications technology teams can build against, with full traceability
  • Interrogate and sense‑check business requirements, challenging and providing options to the business when requirements are unfeasible or technically costly
  • Interface closely with data analyst teams to ensure requirements are accurately reflected and considered in Business processes
  • Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Expert in process mapping and process mining, KPI baselining and value tracking.
  • Proven track record of redesigning and automating business processes and controls.
  • Proven expertise combining business process analysis, business analysis with hands‑on data skills - you can understand business processes systems.
