Overview
You will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Engineer as Head of the Environment Division (106.3), Occupational Safety Health and Environment Office (OSHE) (106), and the Chief Environmental Engineer of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for the Environment Division and OSHE within the shipyard.
- Apply engineering principles to solve environmental problems and communicate with personnel at various organizational levels (production, engineering, leadership).
- Assess shipyard project needs and relationships to environmental risk and liability.
- Interpret and apply environmental laws and regulations; collect and assemble data for regulatory submittals.
- Negotiate with regulatory agencies; forecast resource needs and manage scheduled workload.
- Identify and foster working relationships with separate Navy commands.
Qualifications
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Specialized experience in an industrial environment; managing multiple environmental compliance programs.
- Experience interpreting environmental laws and regulations; collecting data for regulatory submittals; negotiating with regulatory agencies.
- Experience forecasting resource needs and managing scheduled workload; assessing shipyard project needs and environmental risk and liability.
- Experience communicating with personnel at various levels (production, engineering, leadership) both written and oral.
- Experience identifying and fostering working relationships with separate Navy commands.
- Experience applying engineering principles to solve problems.
- Experience refers to paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work; volunteer service can build competencies relevant to employment.
